Electron Microscopy Workshop "Applications of Electron Microscopy in Nano-Scale Science and Technology Research".

The objective of the workshop is to provide training in applications of electron microscopy to the field of nano-scale science and technology research. The target audience of the workshop is students, postdoctoral fellows and researchers from academia, research institutions and industries in the eastern Ontario and west Quebec region. The format of the workshop includes lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training by scientists and instrument specialists at the forefront of the electron microscopy field. more >>

Dr. Christian Detellier has accepted to serve as the Acting Director for the CCRI effective September 30, 2007.

May, 2007

Dr. Deryn Fogg has won the 2007 Strem Chemicals Award for Pure or Applied Inorganic Chemistry.

Awarded for outstanding research in inorganic chemistry, the Strem Award is the highest honour in Canada for an inorganic chemist within the first ten years of their independent appointment. Dr. Fogg was recognized for her studies on the design of selective, efficient ways to build complex molecules from simple precursors; in particular, for her work on olefin metathesis and tandem catalysis.

Professor Fogg is also the recipient of a $120,000 NSERC Accelerator Supplement. She is one of 50 outstanding researchers chosen across Canada in all NSERC discipline areas for increased funding to accelerate their research programs.

February 15, 2007

A new 244-CPU AMD Opteron cluster is installed to support computational chemistry research at the CCRI. The cluster is operated by Dr. Tom Woo and his research group.

November 7, 2006

Dr. David Bryce receives the $150,000 Ontario Early Researcher Award from the Ontario government.

October 1, 2006

Dr. Serge Gorelsky has joined the CCRI as the centre's resident computational chemistry research associate. Dr. Gorelsky will collaborate with research groups within the CCRI and perform quantum chemical calculations to augment their research efforts in catalysis. Dr. Gorelsky received his Ph.D. at York University in Toronto and joins us from Ed Solomon's group at Stanford where he was a post-doctoral fellow. He is a recipient of the Governor General's Gold Academic Medal.

Dr. Keith Fagnou has been chosen the university’s 2006 Young Researcher of the Year. This is the third year in a row that a CCRI member has won the award (Louis Barriault and Deryn Fogg received the award in 2005 and 2005, respectively)

Two Nobel laureates were at grand opening of the Centre for Catalysis Research and Innovation (CCRI)

Dr. André Beauchemin receives $319,968 CFI/ORF grant (Leaders Opportunities Fund).

The CCRI has been short listed for a multi-million international joint venture grant.

November 29, 2005

Dr. David Bryce wins the Polanyi Prize.

The home of the CCRI (the top two floors of the Biosciences Complex) completes construction and members of the CCRI begin to move in.
